Crime Watch

The main goal of the Block Watch program is make our homes safer through education and to create an environment where neighbors are watching out for neighbors and report any unusual or suspicious activity to the Whatcom Sheriff's Office in an effort to deter criminal activity in our community.

Currently we only have 35 families signed up for the program out of 168 homes in our area and we really need a lot more before I can get the signs up and have our area listed as a Block Watch Community. The success of this program lies on the support of those who live in our community and doesn't require much of your time. What it does involve is you reading the packet (that I'd love to get to you) and educating yourself on ways to make your home less of a target for thieves and criminals, plus having you fill out a form that your housing association keeps on record for emergency contact information. The information on the Bay Crest North Block is just designed so that if something happens we can get ahold of you, the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office does not keep a copy. All the forms are confidential and kept in a binder, as the program gets going you'll know who else to contact besides me should I go out of town or on vacation or unavailable.

You can email me at: hoa@baycrestnorth.com to get an informational packet.

Just as a reminder, remember to keep your car doors locked when your vehicles are unattended and remember, "Out of sight Out of mind": keep valuables in your vehicle out of sight to avoid being a victim.

Let's not forget to keep our homes safe by locking doors as well and keeping garage doors closed when not attended, criminals look inside garages for items of interest. The criminal activity that we have experienced so far in our neighborhood has been unlocked car doors.
